What we do

Kersten Trailer Sales is a complete cargo tank sales, service and repair company with three locations in the Rocky Mountain/Midwest region. We specialize in building custom tank trailers to unique customer specifications.

We also sell high-quality used tanks, and because of our experience in manufacturing custom truck tanks, we can extensively modify the used tanks we sell.

In addition to superior tank trailer manufacturing and sales, we offer a comprehensive parts selection and a highly-trained service department that can perform all standard tests, inspections and repairs.

Our main location-the largest tank repair shop in Colorado-is just north of Denver in the suburb of Henderson. We also have a full-service parts and repair shop in Wichita, Kansas; and another complete shop in Casper, Wyoming.

Our history

In 1973, Gene Kersten founded Kersten Trailer Sales with his wife, Leona. He was armed with top-notch experience-for the previous ten years, Gene had been general manager and vice president of a Denver-based tank trailer manufacturer.

Kersten Trailer Sales began its life as a three-bay, three-man operation in a 5,600-square-foot shop. Under Gene and Leona's guidance, Kersten nearly tripled in size in the first nine months of its existence, expanding to an eight-bay, 12,600-square-foot shop with 10 mechanics.

By 1997, Kersten had grown substantially in both size and reputation. The main location moved to Henderson (a suburb just north of Denver) into a 30,000-square-foot shop on a 10-acre campus, with 15 service bays and 20 mechanics, all of them code welders. Kersten also added the two full-service shops in Kansas and Wyoming, with five mechanics and two certified inspectors in each one.

Today, Kersten Trailer Sales is known throughout the region for building superior custom petroleum trailers and truck tanks, a market that has grown substantially in the past decade.
